By Director of SMK, Mikkel Bogh
In our rapidly changing world, SMK believes that the art museum plays an important role in helping to build a more creative and reflective society. SMK aspires to develop a 21st century museum that is a gathering place where people of all ages, nationalities and from all walks of life come to learn from one another using art as the medium through which we can all connect.
The generous and open minded members, patrons and corporate supporters of AFSMK are essential to making this vision a reality. AFSMK is a public charity (501c3) established to strengthen the ties between Statens Museum for Kunst and the Gallery’s American friends and audiences with chapters in New York and Copenhagen.
AFSMK Patrons’ contributions support the contemporary exhibition programme that provides a platform for emerging Danish artists, the ground breaking work of SMK’s conservation centre, which is making important contributions to our global understanding of art history, and the engaging events that draw people together and create new audiences for SMK and the global audiences. While State funding enable us to maintain 700 years of the Royal Collection of Art, it is the support of people and companies like our AFSMK Patrons that enables us to deliver the activities that bring the museum to life also internationally.
AFSMK members are passionate about art and are important ambassadors for SMK in general. Corporate members of American Friends of SMK enjoy the opportunity to host events in the Museum in addition to free passes for employees and clients. They also receive invitations for selected executives to SMK’s events in Denmark and the United States. Corporate membership is all about corporate entertaining, brand association, employee engagement and relationship building.
We wish to provide you with exclusive opportunities to dig deeper into the folds of the museum through a series of special activities and events held in Copenhagen and New York each year.
I hope you will consider joining AFSMK and help to connect Danish Art and the World of Art today!
AFSMK are proud to be supported by both individuals and corporations wishing to contribute to the future development of the arts. Access a full list of our Generous Donors and Friends
